One legacy AVI CHAI hopes to leave the field is in the area of knowledge, ideas and policy thinking that will facilitate action by others. This notion of “thought leadership” encompasses formal research/policy reports as well as more general knowledge management and dissemination.
In developing a “knowledge management” capacity, we see AVI CHAI’s role as organizing and synthesizing data within our core fields in ways that generate reflection, discussion and decision-making among practitioners and philanthropists.
Because of the focused nature of AVI CHAI’s work, our grant recipients, and the schools and camps they serve, face similar challenges and opportunities. We have come to recognize that our role should be a catalytic one, enabling the fields in which we work to learn from each other, model approaches that seem to be working, and avoid proven failures.
